Possum and Avocado. Acrylic, 2016.
Shortlisted for the Miles Art Award, Tauranga Art Gallery, NZ
This was painted during my working holiday in New Zealand as a reflection on the relationships between species not native to the country. At the time I was living on a property with many avocado trees, and one of my jobs was to go out first thing in the morning and gather all the ones that had fallen to the ground. Many had only one bite from a possum before it was thrown down, often hitting the roof in the process.
